While I was in deep thinking how actors and actresses in the entertainment industry were able to attain the popularity and massive following they have. Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Leonardo di Caprio and the like are more than just products of glitz and glamour. What accounts for their popularity is not so much of their movies and appearances in TVs but the same can also be attributed to the great publicity of their activities, causes and events they attend to. In sports, Tiger Woods and Manny Pacquiao, on account of their massive popularity in the different part of the world have become like demi-gods in their respective niche. But it is to be noted that their enormous popularity can be explained not only on the context of their exceptional athletic prowess but also how Publicists played a great part in making bigger than life. They are also media creations.

Publicists in the United States of America believe that public relations has the power to make or unmake a person. It can also make or break a promotional event. The British Institute of Public Opinion says “Public relations is the deliberate, planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain mutual understanding between an organization and its publics.” This description of public relations aptly describes what typical Publicists usually perform for their clients. They establish understanding and establish an efficient link for their client to see their stakeholders in a more or less giant mirror. Publicists will be of continuous relevance in the field of public relations in the years to come and even ad infinitum.
